PORT OF CALL BOUTIQUE ACCOMMODATION &
STEWART ISLAND WATER TAXI & ECO-GUIDING
…three island friends were all arguing together.
“What was the most wonderful thing man ever made?” one asked.
One of them said, “Fire,” the other said, “A Wheel.”
But old Captain Harrold said, “No. The bow of a ship!”
So recounted Ian’s Great Aunty Olga in her famous book The Stewart Islanders. It’s no wonder that sixth-generation Stewart Islander Ian and Philippa's Port of Call B&B, perched in the bush at Harrold Bay, looks a bit nautical. Standing on the deck overlooking Foveaux Strait, you can easily fancy you are a master mariner aboard a ship (but without getting seacrook!). We know that after crossing the Strait by sea or air, you have earned this respite on terra firma. Have a seat, breathe the sea breeze, have a wine (even the saltiest sea dogs here like their pinot noir). Welcome to Stewart Island's loveliest boutique accommodation. Welcome to your vacation.
Relax in our boutique coastal accommodation, with stunning views of Halfmoon Bay on Stewart Island, home of the new Rakiura National Park. Port of Call is surrounded by 20 acres of native bush, large gardens and abundant bird life. We are only a few minutes walk from the beach. We are also in the process of developing new tracks for our guests.
We offer three types of accommodation. Port of Call has one guest room and the Bach is a private and secluded getaway ideal for a couple. Also Turner Cottage
We also offer 'Stewart Island Watertaxi & Ecoguiding', a fast, efficient and friendly service run by Ian Wilson, a sixth generation Stewart Islander. Ian is also a Paua Diver.
